We have a year-round pass that allows us to go to Biltmore whenever we want. It gave us the opportunity to go out to for a wonderful dinner in the restaurant of their their four star hotel. A wonderful date with gift cards that paid for the food.
The atmosphere was really enjoyable, dimmed light, a few Christmas decorations, good and very interesting service since we had the waitress taking orders, the bread waiter, the beer waiter, the ones bringing us food and let's not forget the one refiling our glasses. I understand the prices better now! But it was two hours of pure relaxation and sensory pleasures.
I started with the Pumpkin Risotto, creamy as it should be.
While Hubby had the Blue Prawns over a Crab Cake, the latest was so tasty.
For the entree I had the Black Angus Filet-Mignon topped with Gorgonzola. Delicious, the kind of meat that melts in your mouth yet with a crispy top. My only regret was that the side was really lacking in quantity.
Hubby picked a vegetarian dish: sweet potato ravioli. The flavors were subtle and a pleasure on the tongue.
To finish we told them we were celebrating our anniversary (1 month after the November one), I ordered the Grand Marnier souffle and it came nicely decorated. Delicious to finish this meal.
Well it's not over until you've had Cognac.
We also got our picture taken in front of their Christmas tree, with peacock theme.
The floral arrangement of the reception or how to mix Christmas and peacock colors.
As for me I like teddy bears.
To sum it up, it was a bit expensive (thankfully we had gift cards) but the meal was fabulous and the flavors subtle and surprising with a service and atmosphere up to the level you expect or that price. I recommend it for a special occasion.
Have you tried fancy restaurants before? What did you think about it?
