Il y a bien sur une belle collection d'arbre, des jardins, et des espaces éducatifs. Mais c'est aussi de nombreux sentiers qui rejoignent la foret de Bent Creek.
The NC arboretum is located right next to one of the entrances to the Blue Ridge Parkway just South of Asheville. The entrance is $8 for a car no matter how many passengers you have. But since it's free the first Tuesday of the month, Hubby and I went there after work for an impromptus stroll early October.
There is of course a nice collection of trees, gardens and educational spaces. But it's also numerous trails linking it to the Bent Creek forest.
.
We can see that children are having a blast here
One of the trail is a nature trail where you can learn more about trees, here the sourwood.
At sunset it's a real pleasure to walk on the trails. I could easily see myself run here too.
Some odd plants.
And flower beds.
We also came across this odd grass: Pink Muhly or Muhleabergia Capillaris. I love the fluffy feel of the plant.
Nice photo effect from behind the plant.
Little pink seeds. I'd like to plant some in the yard.
There is also a bonsai collection at the arboretum.
And flower beds inspired from quilting patterns.
The tree of life?
A fun stroll. There wasn't much fall colors yet but who cares. I think I'll try to back there more often when it's free. Plus it was a nice impromptus date with Hubby.
Très chouette, comme quoi on a encore plein de choses à découvrir dans la région ! J'aime beaucoup "l'herbe rose" moi aussi :)
