My luck during this trip was that Hubby had already seen most of the big Parisian sights (and so did I) so we decided to get of the (most) beaten paths.
We started with the Pere Lachaise Cemetery along with my wonderful aunt.
We did not arrive via the main entrance so I only took a picture of the map thinking it would be enough to find our way around...

The first tomb we were looking for was Jim Morrison. Oh my it was hard to find! We knew we were around it, we asked four people around us if they knew were it was, they were looking for it tool. In fact it was behind the alley, hidden by an other tomb we went by, the crowd control barriers should have been a hint!

We then went back down toward the "Jewish Pen", the tomb of the legendary lovers Heloise and Abelard (under repair), and many more tombs. We then decided then decided that really finding tombs without a map was too hard.
We discovered that at the intersection of the Avenue de la Conservation and the Avenue du Puit there was a building with public bathrooms and a welcome center with free maps of the cemetery. I definitely recommend any visitor to stop there. While there are better maps those still helped a lot to find our way around.
My aunt left us there as her ankle was getting tired, and we hiked around to find Moliere, La Fontaine, Edith Piaf, Paul Eluard and Oscar Wilde's tombs among others.
The strangest thing was to discover the memorial in honor of those held prisoner or killed in concentration camps. I'm usually talkative but I fell silence. The sculptures were very moving.

I was very amused by Oscar Wilde's tomb, well it is after all a bit out of the ordinary with all the lipstick traces covering it.

But one can also laugh in a cemetery, such as when it seems that the dollar was buried...

After that we did go to a famous site such as Montmartre.

Here is what I got as I took a picture at the exit of the Sacré-Cœur. No comment.

And my favorite picture of the Eiffel Tower.

We also went around the artist plaza were a little girl was getting her portrait done and rewarding the painter with plenty of silly faces.

We even saw Michou (a French "celebrity"), here is my favorite of the man.

To end the day and because you can't come from the USA and not get a picture in front of the Eiffel Tower, we went to the Trocadero.

To end the day we had the privilege to be invited by my cousin Camille in her place, along with an other blogger. The two ladies had a great pleasure faking an asian accent that had me roll on the floor laughing. The asian food was served with Sangria, Floc Gason and Armagnac which means that we stayed longer than we had planned on, but we still caught a metro back to my aunt's in time.
Du veux un medu empédroi ? ;-)
