Au mois d'avril, le temps s'améliorait. Nous sommes revenus chez sa maman et j'ai découvert sa passion pour l'escalade de bloc. D'ailleurs la photo ci-dessous, prise a Raven Cliff était la première fois qu'il essayait ce bloc ci.
In April the weather improved. We went back to his mom's and I discovered how much he loved bouldering. Actually the picture below is the first time he climed that particular boulder at Raven Cliffs.
Ce fut pour moi ma première ballade sur l'Appalachian Trail. Sentier qui parcours les Appalaches du Nord au Sud.As for me it was my first time on the Appalachian Trail. The trail crossing Appalachia from North to South.
De retour en Caroline du Nord, j'ai pu admirer une neige tardive sur les sommets. Notez au passage la terre rouge (trés argileuse) de la region.Back in North Carolina, I enjoyed a late snow on the summits. Notice the very red clay like dirt of the region
Nous sommes alles conduire sur la Blue Ridge Parkway, chose extremement rare: sous la neige. Non pas que la neige y soit rare, mais j'ai decouvert plus tard qu'a la moindre intemperie de neige ou de glace le systeme des parcs a tendance a en fermer l'acces.
Le sommet avec l'antenne c'est Mont Pisgah, depuis lequel on peut profiter d'une belle vue sur la vallée.
We went to drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a rare thing: under the snow. Not that the snow is rare there, but I later discovered that at the smallest call for snow of ice, the park services close access to the Parkway.
The summit with the antenna is Mont Pisgah, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view over the valley.
D'ailleurs une fois la neige fondue nous y sommes revenus pour aller justement au sommet. Le depart de la randonnée est plutot plat, mais une fois passe le col, ca monte bien. Les marches de pierres plus ou moins regulieres facilites l'ascension. Enfin ce n'est qu'une heure de marche pour les habitués.
In fact as soon as the snow melted, we went back there to go to the summit. The beginning of the trail is fairly flat, but once you go by the saddle it gets steep. The more or less regular stone steps do help though. But then again it's only a one hour walk for those used to hike. 
Depuis le sommet on peut voir le sommet de Cold Mountain, nom bien connu pour ceux qui ont vu le film, inspiré par le roman de Charles Frazier.
From the summit you can look at Colt Mountain, name well known for those who've seen the movie, inspired by Charles Frazier's novel.
En redescendant le long de la Blue Rige Parkway on peut apercevoir le Chateau de Biltmore au loin.
Driving back down on the Blue Ridge Parkway you can get a glimpse at the Biltmore House far in the distance.
On peut aussi voir les immeubles d'Asheville.

Une autre trés belle ballade que nous avons faite en ce début de printemps, toujours le long de la Blue Ridge Parkway, c'est Graveyard Fields. Le nom vient des souches laissées aprés un incendie il y a bien longtemps, elles avaient donné au site une impression de cimetière. La ballade que nous avons faite été en fond de vallée, le long de la rivière.
An other beautiful walk we did in this early spring, still along the Parkway, was Graveryard Fields. The name comes from the stumps left after a fired long ago, giving the site the look of a cemetary. The hike we did was at the bottom of the Valley, along the river.
Notre objectif était la casacade.Our goal was the waterfall.
Ballade facile, mais qui c'est terminée pas une course sous la pluie.
An easy hike, but it ended by a race under the rain.
