Framed by flowers
As time goes by, we make progress in the garden. Last year, while we had a great fir pit area, the wall dissapeared behind the grass. I should say that Hubby couldn't get the lawn mower too close to it and the grass benefited of it.
So this year we tackled it. We removed the weeds (by hand) within a certain distance of the wall and planted two rhododendrons and three azaleas. To help with weed and humidity control we covered it all with mulch. It turns out that the wall stands out a lot more that way too.
Between the rhodos and azalea we also have a few other flowers: irises, lupines, etc. which are blooming or will be. The bushes are blooming now giving us a great display of colors. Our next step is to cover the ground around the firepit with the flagstones a friend gave us. But that's going to be a lot of work.
No chipmunk this year, but we did find a baby (wild) turtle at the bottom of our yard.
